ROTHKO INSTALLATION & VISUALIZATIONS

An installation for the Harvard Art Museum which visualizes evolution across Mark Rothko's life through 360 degree projections and animations.

To celebrate the re-opening of the Harvard Art Museum and the paintings that Mark Rothko created at Harvard, the museum decided to run a production of the play RED on Rothko's life - I was charged with designing innovative and exciting projection installations to augment the play production.

I built a fully immersive projection system that would surround the audience on each wall. The imagery and motion graphics were based on Rothko's paintings. The viewer could watch paint strokes morph and form the many layers of Red and black that Rothko was famous for.

The animations were illustrative of both artistic and emotional transformations which Rothko underwent throughout his lifetime.
